Job Title: Maintenance Fitter

Reporting To: Maintenance Manager

Hours of Work: Monday - Thursday 8.00am – 4.30pm & Friday 8.00am – 3.30pm

Purpose: Working as part of our highly trained and experienced Maintenance team, our fitters play an essential role to ensure that our production plant operates daily by; conducting planned preventative maintenance and responding to emergency break downs throughout the production plant. This is busy and varied role where you will get involved in different aspects of maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Preventative Maintenance and Fault Finding -

  • Overhaul and keep repair of all plant machines.
  • Undertake repairs and servicing to the highest standard in accordance with work requests and pre-determined specifications.
  • Design, promote and carry out preventative maintenance.
  • Actively promote safe working practices, ensuring all machines are safe and fit for purpose.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements to the service and for effective good practice within their role.
  • Fault finding, testing and the removal or adjustment of existing fittings, fixtures and parts.
  • Where a detailed specification is not provided, determine the cause of the fault and then undertake the most cost-effective solution to remedy the defect.

Customer Service -

  • Work with and co-ordinate contractors.
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Keep management and relevant parties’ aware and seek advice and assistance when required.
  • Ensure good relations and communications with all members of the team, other departments and provide excellent customer care in an efficient manner.

General Duties and Responsibilities –

  • Assist the Maintenance Engineer to ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained for all spare part lists and ensure that all necessary records are completed accurately.
  • Contribute positively to the Process Improvement Team during development, implementation and commissioning of process improvements.
  • Use a range of standard and non-standard IT applications to support and enhance the work.
  • Adhere to existing working practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and to respond positively to new and alternative systems.
  • Be flexible and carry out any other task reasonably required by your supervisor or manager.

  • Formal mechanical qualifications in relevant trade


  • Time served
  • Knowledge and experience on a wide range of machines
  • Current knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation
  • Mechanical

  • Basic electrical knowledge

  • Able to work overtime and attend call outs if required
  • Current driving licence.
